The Bainbridge Advocacy Individual Network,(BAIN) Inc., was one of four centers highlighted in a workshop at this year's APRIL Conference. APRIL is a national membership organization dedicated to advancing the rights and responsibilities of people with disabilities in rural America.

BAIN was recognized as having some of the most innovative ideas for getting consumers to fully participate and to become more integrated into their communities.

Bainbridge Advocacy Individual Network, led by Executive Director Virginia Harris, hosts several community events that are designed and run by staff and consumers including a non-partisan state and local Candidate Forum where accessibility and accommodations for people with disabilities are stressed.

BAIN actively seeks strong working relationships with partner agencies and local media, and have received donations in time, space, and money for their well-organized, professional and non-partisan Candidate Forums.

Through BAIN's encouragement and the self-confidence gained by participating in these events, BAIN consumers have become productive members and decision makers in various local transportation and housing committees to ensure accessibility in those systems.
