February 28

The victim reported to Officer John Mills that on her way to school she stopped by a home on Gee Street to see Derrick Williams, her child's father.  She confronted him about items missing from her house in Havana.  She reported he became defensive and grabbed her face with one hand.  She stated he then hit her across the face with his open hand.  He also lives in Havana and could not be located.  Her sister and 4 year old daughter witnessed the incident.

February 23

PSO Gary Hines was dispatched to Troupe Street to a larceny from a vehicle call.  When Officer Hines arrived he met with the owner of the vehicle who stated that her son had been cleaning her 1996 Ford Explorer.
He left the vehicle unattended with the windows down and went inside the residence to get more cleaning supplies leaving her purse inside of a bag in the vehicle.  When the son returned to the vehicle, he discovered her purse was missing.  The complainant stated that her license, credit cards and EBT card was inside the purse.  Officer Hines questioned the son and her nephew but could not determine what had happed to the purse.  A report was filed at the owners request.

February 23

PSO Ellison responed to Bainbridge Memorial Hospital in reference to an assault.  Upon arrival, Officer Ellison spoke with the victim who told Officer Ellison that he was walking on Sims Street to Gibbs Miles when two black males stopped him and asked him for money.  When he told the two males that he did not have any money, they jumped him beating him with their fist and kicking him in the ribs.

February 25

A woman was on the John Johnson property after school let out on Friday wanting to speak to the 'manager'.  Kathy Varner told her that she was the principal. The woman told Varner that the teachers were being cruel to the students by putting them in vehicles instead of letting them walk. According to the incident report, Varner than asked the woman, later idenitified as Rhonda Kennedy if she needed help and when Kennedy told her 'no', Varner told Kennedy she was calling police.

Kennedy left the school property and was stopped by police on West Street. She was asked if she had been drinking to which she replied yes. She was also tested on the portable intox box and according to the report that was also positive for alcohol. When asked her name she gave Officer Boyett several. When Boyett asked how to spell Kennedy she told him he needed to go back to school to learn. Kennedy was arrested and taken to Public Safety. Kennedy wouldn't give an address and when she was taken to the Decatur County Jail told the jailer that heaven was her home.

February 24

You can't just walk up to someone and strike them because you are angry. That's what 19 year old Crystal Roberts learned when she was arrested Sunday evening. Public Safety Officers were dispatched to Wal-Mart. The complainant stated that Roberts and she had once been friends. The complainant and witnesses stated that Roberts approached the complainant, struck her in the face and exited the store. Sheriff's deputies were then dispatched to Roberts address and transported her back to Public Safety where according to the report, she admitted to striking the complainant. Roberts was charged with simple battery and disorderly conduct.

February 22

Shortly before 1:00 am deputies were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle call on Brock Road. The complainant, a resident on Brock Road, stated that a vehicle had driven to the dead end, turned off the lights and she then heard 2 car doors shut. When deputies arrived they couldn't locate anyone in or around the vehicle. They left the immediate area and set up surveillance at a nearby intersection. A short time later the vehicle passed and they stopped it. Inside were the female juvenile and a 13 year old male passenger. The female stated to the deputies that she had snuck out of her house, taken the car keys without permission and picked up the male. After the parents were notified, the male was released to his parents and the female detained at the jail.

February 19

At 9:56 AM PSO John Mills responded a local day care in reference to criminal trespass.  Upon arrival, PSO Mills spoke with a day care worker who stated that she had seen a mother walk by the school.  The worker notified 911 and wanted to report the incident to DFCS because the mother's children are in school there but have been placed in foster care.  This was not the first time that she had walked by the school.

She was not on scene when PSO Mills arrived.  He did make contact with her at BPS in reference to the incident.  The mother stated she had never been advised or warned not to go around, or be near the schools grounds.  PSO Mills then advised her not to be seen or go near the school or she would be arrested for criminal trespass.  In January, the day care had called 911 in reference to harrassement by the mother.  I guess some people never learn.

February 19

PSO Brett Trammell was dispatched to 1303 Dothan Hwy in reference to a domestic dispute.  Upon arrival, PSO Trammell spoke with the complainant who stated that he and his wife were arguing about the money involved in their business. He then stated that his wife began to hit him in the arm and he grabbed her arms to keep her from hitting him. PSO Trammell spoke with the wife who stated that the complainant came in fussing about her being on the phone and they started fighting. She advised that the complainant broke the phone and threw some papers around the office and then left.  PSO Trammell advised both parties that they needed to go to the Magistrate court to settle their civil dispute.

February 18

Public Safety Officer Collin Hastey was dispatched to Monroe Street in reference to an assault.  He was advised that the assault took place at Scenic Arms Apartments and the complainant had run to the location on Monroe Street to get help. When Officer Hastey arrived at the Monroe Street address he met with the complainant who stated that her boyfriend, Samuel Luther Griffin, had assaulted her in her apartment after he accused her of cheating on him.  She stated that they were in her bedroom talking and Griffin began to fuss at her about trust and he began to push and hit her in her face and chest. Officer Hastey observed redness and swelling her face and left eye. 

Sgt. Cox and PSO Hines responded to the apartment to try to locate Griffin but he had left. The complainant gathered some belongings and Officer Hastey took her to Public Safety to photograph her injuries. Officer Hastey later located Griffin and met with him at BPS.  Griffin stated the argument did get physical and that the complainant was mad because he wanted to go back to his baby’s mama.   Both parties were advised that by Officer Hastey that he was seeking warrants.

February 14

DSCO Deputy Mims responded to a burglary complaint on Aaron Road.  Upon arrival, Deputy Mims spoke with the complainant who stated that between February 14 and February 16, someone had entered his game room and stole two peavey amplifiers (one small and one large) that had a combined value of $700, and a 12 pack of beer.  The complainant stated that he last saw the amplifiers on February 14.  He also stated that he was missing a peavey electric guitar with a valve of $200.00.  The guitar had been missing since sometime in January.

February 12

Public Safety responded to a department store in reference to stolen property. When Officer Stubbs arrived the complainant was a customer in the store. The complainant told Officer Stubbs that he had been in the dressing room trying on pants and when he returned to the area the jeans that he had worn into the store were gone along with his wallet. The jeans were recovered in the ceiling area of the dressing room but the wallet and it's contents were gone. Video of the area provided police with several clues to the would-be thief.

February 9

DCSO  Dean responded to Mr. Pipps on Hwy 27 North in reference to a shoplifter.  Deputy Dean spoke with the store clerk who advised him that two females, one about 5 feet 4 inches tall wearing blue jeans and a white shirt and one about 5 feet tall wearing shorts and a tee shirt, came into the store and asked if they were still selling beer at this time (3am). The clerk informed them that they were not. The two females left the store and came back within a few minutes.

The taller female came up to the counter and asked for some playing cards and condoms, that's when, according to the clerk, the shorter female grabbed a 12 pack of beer and walked out of the store. The clerk asked the taller female if she was going to pay for the beer. The female responsed by saying "let me go and see".  The two females got into a gold color vehicle and drove off towards Bainbridge. The clerk was only able to get a partial tag number of A due to the way the vehicle was parked.

February 8

At 11:53, Public Safety Officer Gary Hines received a loud music call at the corner of Barber and West Street.  Upon arriving, Officer Hines spoke with someone who told him that his neighbor was playing loud music.  While speaking with the neighbor, Officer Hines heard music coming from a small building behind a residence on West Street.  After going to the residence, Officer Hines spoke with Johnny Solomon who admitted he had been warned and given a ticket for the same offense last month. According to an uncle of Johnny's, he had told Johnny over and over to keep his music down, but he just doesn't listen. Johnny was then arrested and transported to Public Safety where he was booked on loud music (second offense).
Wouldn't buying a set of earphones be less expensive?

February 8

Bainbridge Public Safety responded to a call at a local day care center in reference to harrassment.  The director of the day care told the officer that while two day care workers were supervising the children in the play area, Tiffany drove by the day care on two occasions and yelled "Hey Baby" at her two children who were on the play ground. 
According to the day care workers, the children became very upset when she drove by and yelled at them. Tiffany's children are in foster care and she isn't suppose to have any contact with them except during supervised visitation.

February 1

Boys and their games, only these 'boys' were 30 and 34 years old. Sherrif's deputies were dispatched to a fight in progress on Pond Drive where they spoke with the complainant. He stated that he and his cousin had been arm wrestling when the cousin got beaten and then began punching the complainant in the face and chest. The deputy observed multiple abrasions and bruises on the complainant. While the deputy was speaking with the complainant, the offender walked up stating
" Yes, I hit him." The offender was arrested for simple battery. While the deputy was placing handcuffs on the offended he observed that the offender had injuries to his hands. The complainant was taken to the hospital by EMS and the offender taken to the ER by deputies and then to jail.
