In late August, Suzy Loeffler of the Bainbridge-Decatur County Humane Society, went to all the county elementary schools promoting the "Pennies For Paws" fund raiser. Two weeks and hundreds of pounds of pennies later, Jones Wheat Elementary School had collected $1,272.71 of the $5,223.12 total from all the elementary schools.

Receiving the plaque for the elementary school donating the most pennies are: bottom row:  B. J. Gurley, Madison Cannon; middle row:  Jacob Brown, Vincent Phan, Arin Harrison; back row:  Pam Immendorf Humane Society President, Ruth Rennick Jones Wheat Assistant Principal, Michelle Cook 5th grade teacher, William Mills, Miranda Killough Pre-K teacher, Suzy Loeffler who lead the fund raiser

On October 19th Jones Wheat was presented a plaque to hang at the school in recognition of the students generosity. Humane Society President Pam Immendorf, who presented the place to students from each grade, told them that the money that they had helped raised would feed the shelter animals for two months or provide spay or neutering for approximately 50 animals.
Congratulations to Jones Wheat and all the elementary students for their efforts.
