Wynton Hall, Bainbridge College Speech Communication Professor and renowned author, spoke to BHS pre-AP and AP students during the morning of Oct. 18. Hall has written four books:
The Right Words: Great Republican Speeches that Shaped History,
Landmark Speeches of the American Conservative Movement,
The Greatest Communicator: What Ronald Regan Taught Me About Politics, Leadership and Life And
Home of the Brave: Honoring the Unsung Heroes in the War on Terror

Hall's speech, "Finding the Right Words" emphasized the five pillars of effective communication:
(1) character matters,
(2) crises are opportunities in disguise,
(3) people don't care what you know until they know that you care,
(4) write handwritten thank you notes to those whom you meet, and
(5) persuade through reason, motivate through emotion.

Hall used personal anecdotes and emphasized important speeches from throughout history to stress the importance of communication.  "Words can change the world," according to Hall.

After his speech, Hall opened the floor for questions and then signed copies of his books for students who wished to purchase them.

Students in attendance were from Mr. James Robinson's AP Government and Politics class,   Dr. Beers' AP Language and pre-AP American Literature classes, Dr. Chambers' pre-AP American Literature class, and Ms. Halada's pre-AP 9th grade literature class.
