Around 9:15 am Wednesday morning, 911 dispatched County Fire, Sheriff and EMS to the Industrial Airfield.

A vintage 1956 single engine plane ended up in the woods instead of the air.

Just prior to take-off the pilot experienced engine trouble. He was not able to make the turn on the end of the runway.

The plane went down a knoll and landed between two trees.

There was a small fire that started from the engine but Decatur County Fire, whose station is just down the road from the accident had that extinguished in short order.

The pilot, Leon Jauert, the only occupant in the plane, was transported by EMS to the ER with minor injuries.
