Two robbers struck Hardees as employees were leaving the building at closing time on Saturday.
As a manager walked from the store towards his car about midnight, 2 black males in masks ran from the dumpster area with a weapon described as similar to an uzi assault weapon with a large clip.
The robbery occurred in front of two other employees that had just gotten into their car after leaving the store a minute before. Apparently the 2 black males wearing masks hid behind the dumpster area watching for the right moment.
When they spotted the manager coming out, they ran towards him, pointing the weapon at him and demanding the money. They took the restaurant's night deposit and a personal bag he was carrying.
They took off behind the store towards a path that leads through the wooded area to Sharpe Street. Public Safety Officers scoured the area with no luck and BPS Investigator Chris Jordan responded to the scene.
Sheriff's Sgt Michael Logue responded with the Sheriff's K9, Vito. Vito led the deputy down the path and to a Hardee's cap that had been dropped at Sharpe Street. About 35 yards along the street the track was gone, typical when there has been a car parked for their getaway.
This incident was reminiscent of the 2 black males that ran from the rear of Nics, C-Store Clerks Feel Threatened, on Thursday night after being seen.
