After a report of 2 juveniles acting under the influence of alcohol at Walmart at about 12:45 Thursday night, BPS Sgt. Jon Harrison spotted them coming out the door. One juvenile headed back into the store to avoid the Sgt and arriving officer Dexter Sapp proceeded inside, found the 15 year old juvenile, and brought him out.
The store reported that the 15 year old was seen taking alcoholic beverages from the alcohol section and putting them in his jacket and pants. He then went into the restroom, after police arrived, and the alcohol was left there.
With the juvenile's alcohol consumption, they would be turned over to their parents, which was better than jail, well, that was the plan.
The mother of the 15 year old arrived not very pleased because this was the same juvenile not identified in the marijuana bust at Woodalls about 3 weeks ago. After she began talking to him, he became irate, calling his mother a xxxxxxx xxtch. After being told he could easily spend the next 6 hours in jail on a juvenile hold, he calmed down.
So off they went heading home, but only minutes later they pulled back in to Public Safety. Sgt. Harrison and Officer Sapp found the 15 year old cursing and yelling at his mother. Then he turned his rage towards the 2 officers. Attempting to handcuff him, the juvenile continued to struggle with the officers as they placed him in the rear of the patrol car.
Now he began kicking at the side window and kicked the window out of its frame. Sgt. Harrison secured his feet with a strap and transported him to the Decatur County Jail.
Rather than going home with mom, or even having a 6 hour hold placed on him, the 15 year old's rage gained him charges of possession of alcohol by an underage person, obstruction of an officer and damage to government property.
