Crash Sends 3 to Hospital

A crash on Drane Smith Road in south Decatur County sent 3 hispanic individuals to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

The van was traveling east when it failed to maneuver a curve.  It left the roadway and continued down the hill slowly moving towards the ditch area.  Not being able to gain control, the van crashed into the ditch where it appeared to have tumbled.

Attapulgus volunteers, Decatur County Fire and Rescue, GSP and Deputies responded.  Two EMS units were called to transport the 3 victims to the hospital.


Troopers Walt Landrum and Brian Palmer worked the crash.  The hispanic family apparently lived in one of the camps set up each year in Attapulgus for workers.
