Bearcats Downed 13-3

Change 2 or 3 plays in the fumbles, flags and field goals and it coulda been another win for the Bearcats Friday night.  The Bearcats played a couple of points better than Thomas County Central but came out on the losing end.

In the first quarter the Bearcats drove down to the 20 yard line but missed a field goal try at the 8 minute mark.  The ball went over and we held them at the 30 and they kicked and we took over at our 25.  We drove the ball out but lost it on a fumble at midfield.  The first quarter ended at 0-0 as Thomas Central began to drive. The Bearcat defense stopped them on the 17 where they kicked a field goal to take a 3-0 lead on us at the 8.42 mark in the 2nd.  We took the kickoff and began at our 20.  We were able to drive but again lost the ball on a fumble.  They took over and drove down to our 25 yard line.  The Bearcat defense stopped them inches short on a 4th and 2 handing the ball back to our offense.

We stalled on the 43 yard line when we failed to make a first down on a 4th and 4 with 1 minute left in the half.  They drove down to our 20, and with time running out, threw 3 incomplete passes.  They did kick a field goal seconds before the half taking a 6-0 lead over the Bearcats into the locker room. They took the 3rd quarter kickoff to the 29 yard line.  On their 2nd series, we recovered a fumble on the 47 yard line.  We got down to the 28 whee we stalled and kicked a field goal to make it 3-6 at the 5.42 mark in the third.  The third quarter ended with the score 3-6.

They began on the 16 and took the ball out to the 41 where our defense stopped them.  They punted us down to our 24 where a couple of penalties again stopped us.

A short punt gave Thomas County the ball on the 47 yard line with 9 minutes to go in the game.  A face mask penalty helped bring them inside the 20 yard line.  They took a 13-3 lead on a 13 yard run with 6.46 left in the game.  After the kickoff, we drove the ball to midfield where were failed on a 4th down and 6 with 3 1/2 minutes left in the game.
