November 3rd, 2009

The Bainbridge City Council voted to move forward on the architectural services for the controversial City Hall renovation and approved the contract with Clemons, Rutherford And Associates Of Tallahssee, Florida.

City Manager Chris Hobby stated that the firm will move forward in the proposed design which will be due at next year's retreat.  Mr Hobby explained that if the Council decided at that point not to proceeed, the City is only committed to a total fee of $38,850.

Mr. Leon Brogdon was recognized as the City of Bainbridge Employee Of The Year.

Public Works Director Tommy King wrote of Leon Brogdon
Leon Brogdon was hired with the City of Bainbridge in April of 2007 as an Equipment Operator I. His resourcefulness and independence in meeting objectives far exceeds what is expected of him. Mr. Brogdon's thoroughness, accuracy and consistency in his job performance are exceptional. The degree of job knowledge surpass beyond what is expected considering his length of employment.

Several months back Leon was diagnosed with cancer and has been receiving treatments in an effort to cure his disease. On the days he has treatment, he only takes off the amount of time for the treatment and then returns to work. I have never heard of anyone returning to work on the same day just after receiving cancer treatments.

This type of dedication is only one example of Leon's enthusiasm and commitment to his job and the City. His extraordinary ability to communicate with supervisors and fellow employees as well as his cooperation and willingness to undertake new assignments makes Leon Brogdon an asset to the City of Bainbridge. I would like to highly recommend Leon as a brilliant choice for Employee of the Quarter based on his unfaltering dedication to the City of Bainbridge.
