Bishop Wins Over Keown

US Representative Sanford Bishop was able to fend off challenger Mike Keown to keep his seat in district 2 by 4776 votes out of a total cast of 167,964.

Mike Keown won in Decatur County 4,417 to Bishop's 2,861.  Whereas Keown won in 20 or the 32 counties in the district, Bishop won big in Dougherty 18,119 to Keown's 9,639 and in his home county of Muscogee 18,486 to 4,432 to achieve his victory.   All Vote Totals by County

Nathan Deal, the Republican candidate for Governor, won resoundingly taking 52.9% of the vote over Roy Barnes who garnered 43.0% of the total cast statewide of 2,548,738.  Deal was also the winner in Decatur County 3,755 to Barnes' 3,265.

In the State Representative, District 172 race, Gene Maddox defeated Marjean Boyd 6,994 to 5,007.  In Decatur County Maddox won over Boyd 4,028 to 3,191, a margin of 837.
