Oct 26

An Animal Cruelty complaint was received from Georgia Parole Officers at 908 James Street on Monday.  Officer Gary Hines responded to find a dead dog with a large chain connected to it on his back porch.  James Byrd stated that the dog was his but he did not know it was dead. 

A second dog was found chained to a tree on the side of the house.  There were no required tags on either of the 2 dogs.  Animal Control was notified as well as Beth Eck from the Humane Society Shelter.  Animal Control took custody of both animals and James Byrd, 35, was arrested and charged with 2 counts of no dog tags and cruelty to animals.  James Byrd was released on parole 10 months ago after serving 3 years on a cocaine charge.

A burglary was reported by an Antioch Church Road resident to Deputy Humberto Dean.  the resident stated that a white and yellow Sea-Doo jet ski on its trailer as well as a 5 X 12 utility trailer had been stolen from the residence.   An A/C window unit was removed from a window and a Remington 850 shotgun, cell phone and a chain saw were also taken.


Oct 24

Two males pointing a gun at each other on Japonica Drive was reported at about 4 pm Saturday afternoon.  The witness stated they had left in a dark blue Kia Optima and a blue Crown Victoria with tinted windows and large tires.

The witness reported to Officer Jason Barlow that in the driveway at 1021 Japonica Drive 2 men were arguing and then each of them pulled out a gun and pointed it at each other and then leave.  In the Crown Vic was reported to be "Georgia Boy" and in the dark blue Kia Optima was "Runt".

The Kia Optima pulled down the street and Officer Barlow stopped them.  Driving was Adam Croft with passengers Roderick Hallmon and Adam Hancock.

No weapons were found in the vehicle but a cold open beer was located spilled in the vehicle.  Roderick C Hallmon, 28, of 1021 Japonica Drive was charged with open container.

Oct 23

At about 9:30 am, Officer Alton Brock responded to a call about a possible riot at Pine and Hall Streets.  He arrived to find people in the road yelling and screaming at each other.  The officer got things quieted and it was quickly apparent that there were 2 opposing groups involved, the Green Street girls and the Pine Street girls.

Officer Brock could see that a cooking grill had been thrown through the back door window of a Green Street house.  He also found a Pine Street house had been entered and vandalized.  Both events occurred about 2 hours earlier.

It appeared that the 2 groups of girls are involved in an ongoing argument over what appeared to be 2 of the girls sharing one boyfriend.

A resident in the 4000 block of Vada Road reported a burglary to Deputy Nick Godwin.  He stated he arrived home to find his front door open and $2,000 in weapons missing from his gun case.  Reported missing was

Oct 18

At about 9 am, the same Lord Avenue resident as below reported to Officer Beau Harrell that her vehicle had been damaged.  She reported that during the previous night someone had broken the front window of her 2001 vehicle.

Oct 15

At about 1 pm, a Lord Avenue resident reported a burglary to Officer Jason Barlow that had occurred sometime during the morning.  She stated that when she arrived home that she found her air conditioner removed from her front window and sitting on the front porch.  She reported that her child's silver and pink Huffy 10 speed was missing. Investigator Mark Esquivel processed the scene.

Oct 15

A School Court resident reported to BPS Captain Jerry Carter a gun stolen from his residence.  The gun was described as a Taurus Chrome 357 Magnum worth $1,000.

Oct 14

At about 3 pm, Sheriff's Sgt. Steve Singleton and Deputy Humberto Dean responded to a residential alarm at 2076 Tallahassee Highway.  They found the back door had been kicked open.  Investigator Terry Phillips and Captain Gale Bowyer processed the scene.  The owner arrived and reported $2300 in items stolen from the residence including

Oct 14

Pastor Arthur Wooten at the Mt. Moriah Church on Dell Road reported the church's air conditioning unit had been stolen to Deputy Daryl Long.  The air conditioning unit was valued at $7,400.  Investigator Terry Phillips and Captain Gale Bowyer processed the scene.

Oct 11

A burglary on Booster Club Road of almost $3500 was reported to Deputy Spencer Mock.  The complainant stated that over the past weekend a number of tools were missing from his tool trailer.  He reported that the tools are marked with S.R.B. or S.B.  Investigators Terry Phillips and Gayle Bowyer processed the scene.  Items reported missing include

Oct 9

A $5,000 ATV was reported stolen to Deputy Spencer Mock by a Climax resident on Cumbie Road.  The ATV was described as a 2004 Green Artic Cat ATV 4X4.

Oct 5

Sheriff's Captain Chip Nix and Deputies Vincent Edmond and Humberto Dean stopped on a black Ford Taurus, with window tint so dark the driver could not be seen, at Griffin Street and Bethel Road. 

The driver, Kevin Calloway, Admitted he did not have a valid driver's license.  When his name was run, it came back that he was wanted by Tifton Police Department for Reckless Conduct and from the Tift County Sheriffs Office for a felony probation violation with an original charge of Burglary and Possession of Marijuana.

In a search of the vehicle, Deputy Edmond located a Heckler & Koch 9mm 15-round gun magazine inside and a black nylon gun case and the center console.  In a search of the passenger, Selena Reid, Deputy Dean discovered a black Gem Tech 9mm handgun silencer in her purse.  The handgun silencer was found to be stolen from Valdosta, Georgia.

Kevin Calloway stated the items were his and that Selena Reid was only holding them for him.  Kevin Calloway, 25, of 210 8th Street, Tifton, was charged with driving with suspended license,window tint law, possession of a gun silencer and criminal receipt of goods.

Oct 8

Decatur County Sheriff's Office Captain Chip Nix and Deputy Ramsey Simmons turned on Philyaw Road, off of Highway 309 south.  The deputies spotted several males sitting on chairs around a fire beside a couple of vehicles.

When the officers first came into sight of the males around the fire, two of the males took off running.  One male, later identified as Undrieckas Anderson Devuntrey, was left sitting on the hood of a car and then there was Lemarrio Casteel.

Lemarrio Casteel walk to the back of a Jeep, put the rear door down, and then Captain Nix spotted him throwing something into the fire.  Casteel started walking toward Capt. Nix and but looked down and saw something on the ground.  Casteel started twisting his foot on the something, trying to hide it in the dirt.

Capt. Nix pushed Casteel off of the area and spotted a baggie of cocaine on the ground.  In the passenger seat of Casteel's Jeep, he spotted a bag with more cocaine.  Lamerrio Durell Casteel, 32, of Quincy, Fl was charged with possession of cocaine and tampering with evidence.

A car burglary was reported to Officer Demetric Stubbs on Banks Street.  The complainant reported a 40 caliber Smith & Wesson semi-automatic pistol missing from the trunk of his car.

Oct 6

A car burglary was reported to Officer Demetric Stubbs on Dothan.  The complainant reported a Glock model 22 caliber semi automatic pistol missing from under the seat of his car.  He stated the gun was in an inscribed black nylon holster.

There was no charges filed in a Lashley Road domestic dispute after the victim was jerked by her hair and punched in the head in front of her 4 children and a granddaughter.  The 36 year old female did not want to file charges.

The victim reported, and the kids verified, that 24 year old Anthony Harrison had been drinking and started to argue with her about any and everything.  She called him a name and that's when he attacked her.

Anthony Harrison denied stabbing the tires of her vehicle with a fingernail file, but Deputy Vince Edmond located a fingernail file near one of the tires.

Oct 4

At about 3 am, Cpl Craig Carr and Officers Rusty Day and Lee Whitehead responded to a domestic call at 1301 Fourth Street.  A witness met him on the front porch saying that Johnny Rambo was beating her friend in the back bedroom.  At the bedroom door, officers heard a female yelling for help and Johnny Rambo telling her to shut up.  Officers had to push through the door Rambo was holding closed. 

The female stated that Rambo had jumped on her and began to choke and hit her.  Their small child was in the corner of the room while this occurred.  AS Johnny Rambo III, 20, of Donalsonville was being arrested for disorderly conduct and simple battery, he was repeatedly saying "I can't believe you doing this shxx."

At about midnight, a Climax resident reported to Deputy Brett Trammell that her car had been found by Grady County Deputies  on Pineygrove Road on fire.  The East Broad St. owner stated she had last seen it about 1 1/2 hours before and had left a single key in the ignition.

Sept 30

At 5:30 pm, Deputy Brett Trammell responded to a small child that had been bitten by a bull dog.  The child suffered deep lacerations to her legs and two small cuts on her neck.  In the rear of the residence at the intersection of Buckhead Drive and Butler Ferry Road, the deputy found a pit bull dog being very aggressive towards everyone.

The dog was owned by Willie Wimbush who witnesses stated had the dog tethered to a tree with steel cable, but broke his collar and attacked the child.  EMS transported the child to the hospital and Decatur County Code Enforcement Officer Red Harrell arrived and took the dog into custody.
