Monday 3 pm

The intense search for student pilot Kyle Boss ended Monday afternoon just before 1 pm.

Searchers going door to door were told by a resident along the flight path that he had seen the plane at about 4:40 Friday afternoon.

Our understanding is the resident did not think too much of the fact a crop dusting plane was heading steeply down.  With this information, searchers intensified the search in Baker County Georgia and found the downed plane.  The crash was fatal for the pilot.

=================================================

A student pilot is missing since a Friday afternoon flight to Eufaula.

Kyle Boss took off from Ag-Flight at the Decatur County Airport about 4:30 Friday afternoon for a routine flight.  The 80 mile flight to Eufaula and back usually takes about 2 hours.

The search for the pilot continued Sunday with the Civil Air Patrol from Georgia and Alabama, Georgia State Patrol helicopters, Department of Natural Resources, local GEMA agencies and private citizens all helping in the search and rescue.

The 22 year old pilot has been at Ag-Flight for about 6 weeks and has been working towards his commercial pilot's license.   He is from Sand Lake Michigan and married with no children.  His first wedding anniversary is next week.

Asking for Help
Family members, who have traveled here from Michigan, are asking for landowner's help in checking their property, including in trees, for any sign of the aircraft.  It is a single engine red and white Bellanca aircraft.

Also, if anyone in the Bainbridge, Colquitt or Blakely area saw or heard anything Friday afternoon that may help, please contact the Sheriff's office or Capt. Paige Joyner as soon as possible at 678-570-5422.

On Sunday, 12-14 airplanes, along with a GSP helicopter, equiped with heat sensing radar, searched a grid pattern along the assumed flight path.  The river is being searched with one Ag-Flight employee searching the river by boat for 10 hours.
