Three young black males, with guns drawn and in masks, robbed a couple on Sunday night. Mr and Mrs William Johnson were tied up in the home invasion which occurred at about 11:30 Sunday night. They were able to free themselves within a matter of minutes and call 911.
With water surrounding the home, Sheriff's Deputies needed a truck to approach the manufactured home, located on Tallahassee Highway just south of Johnny Skipper Road.
Unsure if the thieves were on foot at that point, Deputies searched the surrounding areas and Public Safety covered and searched areas north of the residence.
Mr William Johnson, 61, reported at least 5 guns and some cash were stolen from the home. The stolen guns included a 9 mm and a 22 caliber.
Tracking dogs from Apalachee Correctional Institute of Sneeds FL were called and arrived at about 1 am. The API dogs tracked the thieves, who fled out the back door, directly to a dirt road behind and just north of the home.
At the dirt road, Deputies found tracks to where they apparently had a car sitting in wait. The dirt road led through the adjacent home's property and out onto the Highway 27.
Investigator Redell Walton is handling the case and Captain Gale Bowyer processed the scene.
