Seeing a tractor trailer bearing down on him, Stephen Moulton of Iron City, thought today was his last day
Moulton was on the Highway 97 connector with a front loader in front of him. He was in his F-250 pickup with a trailer carrying 2 wrecked cars and decided to go around the large and slow moving piece of equipment.
At left, Tiny, the 7 month old passenger and traveling companion with Moulton, was shaken up a bit but none the worse for wear.
The 53 year old Moulton pulled out to go around to see the semi heading straight towards him. He stated his brakes locked up on him. Luckily, the semi driver saw him and was able to steer his tractor trailer right and avoided a head-on collision.
Moulton took a hit to the front driver's side of the truck and the truck's console was pushed up against his legs. The first call was extrication would be needed but Moulton managed to exit the wrecked vehicle.
The tractor trailer took down some road signs and came to a stop on the grass off the roadway. The driver of the tractor trailer, 47 year old Brian Morrow of Ft Walton Beach, was not injured.
Stephen Moulton's only complaint was ankle pain and a small laceration to the bridge of his nose. Tiny, his Great Dane, seemed to be fine.
City workers were called to put sand on the fuel that leaked from Moulton's truck.
