The Earl May Boat Basin major renovation with the new boat ramps and parking are well on their way. City Manager Chris Hobby stated that all should be completed within the next 2 months.
Below is the view from West College Street of the newly created paved road that is across from the Cox Avenue intersection.
The video begins at the other end of the new road, where the old Boat Basin Road has been cut. At end are some views of the new fields being constructed at Bill Reynolds Sports Park on Cox Avenue.
The old ball fields are now the area where the large parking lot is being prepared. The small building you see are restrooms being constructed, now about half finished.
The road that was between the old ball fields and the water is gone and in its stead, a left turn takes you onto the new winding road that ends at West College Street. A right turn there will take you to the existing playground and then on to the beach area, camp sites, and to the train and the animals.
The new boat ramps are being placed opposite the old ballfield area, where the new parking lot is being constructed.
The City expects all to be finished several weeks before the large BASS tournament comes to Bainbridge and Lake Seminole October 7-9. The following two weekends in October, Bainbridge will host a Bassmaster Weekend Series and then a FLW BFL tournament.
The new recreation complex at Bill Reynolds Sports Park on Cox Avenue are also well on their way. New lighting is installed, much of the fence is in place, grass is planted and the 8 new baseball and softball fields will be in great shape early in 2011.
