Georgia State Patrol and Sheriff's Deputies chased Tony Davis up and down Highway 309 and 97 for about 20 minutes on Friday evening until GSP Cpl Kyle Duke's PIT maneuver put him on the side of the road.  (PIT is an acronym for a "Precision Intervention Technique")

Above, Davis's Jeep skids out of Horseshoe Bend road and heads south.

Cpl Duke stated Davis at first stopped for his blue lights, and then took off in the Jeep Cherokee heading north on Highway 309.  Several minutes and several roads later, he was on Highway 97 and turned into Horseshoe Bend Road, a dead end road.  Tony Davis got to the end of the road, did a 180 degree turn, and aimed his car directly at Sheriff's Captain Justin Bedwell, running him into a ditch.

Cpl Duke on chase, with more.

Tony Davis then avoided Deputy Singleton's spike strips and, with a deputy blocking northbound, headed south on Hwy 97.  Davis turned onto Green Shade Road where Cpl Duke first performed a PIT on him.  The PIT spun Davis's car around, he regained control, and took off weaving his way through the ditch area and around deputy's cars, back to Hwy 97.

Several miles later, at Pond Road, Cpl Duke's PIT maneuver put him on the side of the road.  At that point, Tony Davis slid over into the passenger seat and put his seat belt on like he had been the passenger.  With the speed and recklessness Tony Davis displayed, Cpl Duke stated he felt it was important the man was stopped before entering Bainbridge.

The Florida Jeep Davis was driving was discovered stolen.  It is suspected he was also under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  30 year old Tony Lee Davis was arrested, transported to the hospital, and then on to county jail.

In December of 2006, Tony Davis was arrested for simple battery-family violence, obstruction of an officer (2X) and public drunkenness.  Cpl Duke stated he had been banned from Decatur County.
