On Tuesday Sheriff's Lt Rick Ashley responded to a complaint of trash piled up in a yard on Fay Drive, off Dothan Road.
In the back yard, the deputy found 2 large piles of household garbage large enough to fill up a dump truck. The owner admitted to Lt Ashley that the garbage was hers.
She told him that her husband had left her and the children and that she had no way to haul away the garbage. She was issued a warning. No doubt she would appreciate some help from someone.

Then there was Melvin Williams. He had an old piece of carpet when Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Gary Hines spotted him. The problem was that it was about 1:30 am on Wednesday night. Officer Hines spotted him trying to hide in a yard as he passed by on Monroe Street. Aware that Melvin had been arrested several times for prowling and stealing, he backed up to question him.
When asked why he was in the yard, Melvin told the officer that he did yard work for the resident and he had permission to be there. When awakened, the resident did not agree. Melvin Williams, 39, of 103 Slough Loop Rd was arrested for public drunk and loitering/prowling.
