At about 3:30 am Sunday morning Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Rusty Day domestic at 411 Campbell Street.

Officer Day was met by several complainants that were visibly shaken, crying, and upset.  They stated that Truman Butler had beaten, punched and bit several people and stated he was in the back yard.

At left a 2007 arrest
He found Butler walking away and called for him to stop.  He looked back and took off with the officer right behind him.  Officer Day chased Butler through a small opening in the fence.

Truman Butler was running through the next yard when his droopy pants fell to his knees and he stopped to pull them up.  Officer Day took him to the ground and the suspect began to violently fight and kick and spit at the officer.

He got the handcuffs on him and Captain Fred Black arrived to assist in walking the subject to the patrol car.  when they got the Butler to his feet, he again began to fight and kick in order to get away.  Back to the ground he went.

Sgt. Ray Cox arrived and the 3 officers got him to and in the patrol car.  Now Butler began trying to kick the window out of the car, so officers cuffed his legs.

Now came the verbal abuse.
Truman Butler began with "Fxxxing xxssy cracker, when I get out I am going to kill you, find your wife and kill and rape her, and kill your xxxxing children."   He continued to be very combative saying he would kill all the police officers involved in the incident and was transported straight to the county jail.  On the way, it was "when I get out this car I am going to xxxxing kill you!".

Due to a small laceration above his eye, he had to first go to the hospital to be treated.  Truman Butler continued on the way and at the hospital with "Just wait xitch, when I get out I am going to kill you and them other xxxgers that xxxxing roughed me up in the back yard. I am going to get my crew and we going to shoot public safety up and kill all ya'll mother xxxxers. If I don't kill you all I will bomb that place xitch. That badge don't mean xxit I can't kill your xss mother xxxxer."

Truman Vincent Butler, 33, of 411 Campbell Street was charged with 2 counts of obstruction of an officer, terroristic threats and acts, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and 4 counts of simple battery-family violence.

In March of 2007, Truman Butler was discovered with a 5.7 caliber Herstal semi-automatic (aka Cop Killer) handgun.  The pistol had been stolen in the Southern Trading and Pawn burglary in August of 2006.  In this incident he was arrested and charged with possession of arms by convicted felon and 1st offend probation violation and theft by receiving stolen property.  Other past arrests include cocaine and identity fraud.
