On Tuesday, Bainbridge Public Safety and the GBI arrested Thomas Chason for the child porn that was discovered on a computer he had rented.
In August of 2007, a local rental store had rented a computer to Thomas Chason, When Mr Chason did not pay, the store picked up the computer about October 22. On the computer, the store discovered pictures of children in sexual positions and performing acts with adults. The store did not report this incident.
On November 2, Thomas Chason returned to the store and requested to rent the same computer again, which he did. After again not paying, the store again went to pick it up from him. This time, he made the employees picking up the computer wait 40 minutes before allowing them into his home.
Store personnel again found child porn on the computer. They also stated that Mr Chason had deleted a lot of photos off the computer. This time they called Public Safety and Captain Pat Thomas responded. Captain Thomas took possession of the computer and turned it over to Investigator Mark Esquivel.
With computer forensics a crucial part of the investigation, the GBI help was requested. The investigation concluded on Tuesday with the arrest of 61 year old Thomas Chason by Public Safety Investigators and GBI Agent Mike Walsingham.
Thomas Chason of 500 E Evans Street, Apt B. was charged with Sexual Exploitation of Children.
