When ya see blue lights, ya move over, it's the law and it provides some safety for our law enforcement.  And secondly, don't crash fences.

Brad Bryant of South Bay Florida will forever associate blue lights with his 25th birthday.  He began that day in jail because he failed to move over for blue lights.

Public Safety and Deputy Steve Black were on a stop on the Bypass at about 10 pm Monday night.  Deputy Black was walking from his patrol car to the stopped car.

He looked up to see a red truck right at him and he threw himself out of the way across the hood of Officer Gary Hines's car.

Officer Hines took off around the Bypass after the red Ford truck.  He caught up with Brad Bryant and quickly realized this was a little more than carelessness.  A DUI sent Bryant to begin his birthday in jail.

The original stop by Public Safety Officer Chris Jowers also tuned out to be a bit more than for a headlight out.

In the early evening, a resident on Beverly Lane, off Woodhull Road, reported a yellow car had crashed through the neighbor's chain link fence, backed out and took off.  Deputy Steve Black responded and check the area.  On Andrea Avenue, a resident reported that the car had pulled up in her driveway.

The resident reported to Deputy Black that it was Jerry Joiner in the yellow sports car.  He appeared to be intoxicated and she told him to leave, which he did.  Deputies had been in search of him for several hours before the Public Safety stop.

At about 10 pm, Officer Jowers spotted a car heading north on Tallahassee Highway with no headlights and only one parking light working.  He turned around and followed him onto the Bypass where he made the stop.  Jerry Joiner will be charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and damage to property.

Joiner's yellow GEO Storm was easily identifiable, especially with the back window broken out.
