A special art exhibit and reception will be held on Sunday, June 14th at the Firehouse Gallery. The exhibit will display the work of 48 area students who attended this year's Art Camp.
In video is Phyllis Lucas, president of the Arts Council, and student Maddie McIntosh about Art Camp.
The Sunday exhibit will feature the work of public, private and home school students who were nominated to attend Art Camp by their art teachers. Art Camp was divided into two sessions; rising 4th-6th grade students attended the first week and 7th-9th graders attended the second week.
Students were exposed to various art medians, basket weaving, jewelry making, photography, charcoal drawings, pottery, painting and more.
The Art Camp is another example of the community working together to provide for our youth. It was made possible through the work of the Bainbridge-Decatur Council of the Arts, YMCA, the City of Bainbridge, Bainbridge Rotary Club and many volunteers.
This program is also supported by the Grass Roots Program on the Council for the Arts through the appropriation of the Georgia General Assembly and in partnership with the Community Support Foundation, Inc.
To showcase their work to family, friends and the community, the Art Exhibit and Reception will be from 2 to 4 pm at the Firehouse Gallery on Sunday.
