A semi driver apparently passed out at the wheel and crashed as he traveled on the Highway 84 Bypass on Thursday afternoon.

Tyler Pippins, in video, tells us that as he came around the curve under the Faceville Highway and

spotted the semi crossing the median from the east bound side of the highway.  The semi never slowed as it angled across the west bound lanes and onto the side of the highway.  The slope caused the tractor trailer to flip onto its side.

Tyler pulled over and checked on the driver.  He found him to be unresponsive and breathing.  Bainbridge Public Safety, Decatur County Sheriff's Deputies and GSP were on scene very quickly.  EMS arrived and transported Travis Rowe to the hospital.  Rowe had regained consciousness before being transported.

The trailer was carrying a full load of corn and it took several hours to clear the scene.

BPS Captain Jack Bunting and Officer Humberto Dean worked the crash.  After treatment at the hospital, Travis Marcel Rowe, 43, of Lakeland FL was arrested and is under investigation for Driving Under the Influence.
