Decatur County Sheriff's have arrested 58 year old Sheldon M Stone for the murder of 37 year old Kenneth Dwayne Koon.  The murder occurred in Sheldon Stone's home in the hours before 8am Tuesday June 3.

Sheldon M Stone
Mr Stone was arrested by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement on Monday and is now being held in the Leon County Jail.  He is awaiting extradition to Decatur County.  It was not known if he would contest the extradition.

At approximately 8 am last Tuesday, Gail Parson, Mr Koon's girlfriend went to the Stone home looking for Mr Koon.  On her arrival, she saw Mr Stone leaving the residence.

Ms Parson went into the home, discovered the body of Mr Koon, and called 911.  Sheldon Stone went to the Chattahoochee Police Department and reported the death of Mr Koon.

Sheriff Wiley Griffin stated that Mr Stone, the owner of the residence, was very quickly a suspect in the death.  Sheriff Griffin stated Mr Stone was put under surveillance by deputies at the time he left the Chattahoochee Police Dept.  Sheriff Griffin stated they were fully aware of Mr Stone's whereabouts at all times over the last 6 days.

Sheriff Griffin stated the autopsy revealed the death was caused by a shotgun blast to the neck and shoulder area.  The GBI crime scene team and Sheriff's deputies spent about 20 hours processing the crime scene.  The investigation and evidence collected led to Sheldon Stone's arrest on Monday.
