Sheriff Wiley Griffin has confirmed the death of 37 year old Kenneth Dwayne Koon is being investigated as a homicide.  His body was found in the residence at 138 Booster Club Circle Tuesday morning by the victim's girlfriend and a friend.

Sheriff Griffin stated the death was caused by massive trauma to the upper body.  At this time, the weapon used to cause the death is deemed "undetermined" but Sheriff Griffin expects the crime lab to make that determination.

The body was reported about 8 am Tuesday morning by a friend and girlfriend of the Mr Koon.  Sheriff's investigators immediately requested the assistance of the GBI crime scene unit.

Sheriff Investigators and GBI were forced to stand by and obtain a search warrant before processing the scene.

After waiting much of the day to begin, as of midnight Tuesday evening, GBI was continuing the painstaking processing of the residence.

Sheriff Griffin stated they understand that Kenneth Koon and the owner of the residence were friends.

The investigation on Tuesday also included the wooded area surrounding the residence.  Investigators utilized the Georgia State Patrol helicopter for a search from the air and was assisted by the FDLE, Chattahoochee Police, Florida Fish and Wildlife and Jackson County FL Deputies.

According to tax records, Sheldon M Stone is the owner of the residence.

138 Booster Club is located in the extreme southwest area of Decatur County.
