Last week we reported on an incident, included below, where girlfriend and Charlie Johnson met at the budget inn to spend the night together. The girlfriend reported that Charlie held her down cutting her with a broken gin bottle.
An arrest warrant for this case has not been issued. For cases involving domestic situations, most of the time a warrant will not be issued if the victim does not want to prosecute, which is the case here. With the evidence that was ascertained at the motel, we can only hope for a good resolution.
Public Safety Investigator Alton Brock stated the case file is being prepared and will be turned over to District Attorney Joe Mulholland for the next session of grand jury.
At this time though, there is a warrant outstanding for Charlie Johnson on other charges. If you have any knowledge of his whereabouts, please contact the Sheriff's office at the form linked below or you may call 911.

May 3 Incident
At 12:14 pm, Officer Collin Hastey was dispatched to Washington Street in reference to an assault. A female reported to him that the previous night she met Charlie Johnson at the budget inn to spend the night together. About 2:30 am, she stated that Charlie got mad and punched her in the face. They began to fight and he busted a gin bottle and held her down and began to cut her with it. Officer Hastey observed several cuts on her face in straight rows. There was also similar cuts on the back of her neck and her lower back.
She stated that she tried to call for help but he would stop her from using the phone. She did try to dial (0) for the attendant and lay the phone down, but no one ever came to the room. Charlie continued to keep her against her will until morning when he took a shower and she ran home and called the police.
Officer Hastey went to budget inn motel and spoke to the cleaning personnel. They stated that they had already cleaned the room. When asked if they noticed anything suspicious they told officer Hastey that there was blood everywhere. There was two blood soaked shirts in the trash, the sheets were bloody and there was broken glass everywhere.
The shirts and the neck of the broken gin bottle was collected for evidence. The case was turned over to Investigator Alton Brock.
