Rivertown Days just keep growing and getting better. For the fifth year the Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce orchestrated an event for all to enjoy.

The event kicked off Friday with the opening of the River Rummage, the antique car show and a fantastic outdoor concert featuring the Tams and the Swinging Medallions.

This year's new addition to the activities was the Flint River Raft Race Saturday morning.

The course was laid out in the boat basin.  In the first leg of the race, the blowing wind in the face of the 5 entries made it tough going.  The race was great fun for both the participants and spectators.  Now with the first race accomplished, Josh Paske said he is certain the field will grow next year.

The "Lindy", Wal-Mart's raft entry, is ready to go. Store Manager, Roy Oliver, wishing them good sailing before the race begins.

Headed by Josh Paske, the race consisted of two categories; commercial and non-commercial. Winning the commercial division was the Wal-Mart raft with the team of Lindy Lamoree, his son Ricky and grandson Justin.

The "Climax Paddlers" had quite the crew and didn't leave out a thing on their 'ship'. It came complete with cannons and a first aid kit.

The winner of the non-commercial race were the 'Climax Paddles' with Travis, Cory and Trevor Green, Casey Brock and Chad White.

More activities were also added for the younger crowd. They were kept busy with a variety of inflatables, pony rides, building bird houses, making stepping stones, train ride and the rock climbing wall.

The rummage sale has grown and this year according to organizer Debbie McIntyre, there were over 100 vendors lining the banks of the Flint River. Just about anything could be found as with a huge array of homemade arts and crafts to both new and used merchandise for sale.

They could also get up close and personal with the alligator exhibit and the Frontier Village was an educational adventure. For the big boys, an exhibit of boats and ATVs were there.
