Sunday night about 1 am, Public Safety Officer Pat Bryant spotted a white ford contour run a stop sign on Water Street.  When Officer Bryant asked for his license, the driver stated he had left it at home  so he asked for his name and date of birth.  He stated his name was Lanorris Jenkins and for his birthday he stated "April, no August 3".  A little suspicious.

Sgt. David Cutchins and Cpl. Aaron Brown then responded to the stop on Water Street to see if they recognized the subject.  The suspect was acting nervous and when asked if they could search the car, said yes.  Nothing was found.

Without an ID the suspect was arrested.  Officer Bryant asked him to remove his shoes so he could check them.  In one of the shoes he found some crack cocaine.

He was identified as 18 year old Derrick Lamar Jenkins Jr of Rose Lane in Attapulgus.  He was charged with DUI drugs, suspended license, giving false information, possession of cocaine and a stop sign violation.
