May 26

A mother reported to Officer Rusty Day that her daughter had stolen Zanax from her.  She told him that her 16 year old daughter had stolen 6 or more Zanax pills and sold them.  The daughter stated to the officer "Yes, I took them and sold them to a white man for $2 a piece like my mom does and told me to do." 

The daughter was arrested for possession of controlled substance without a prescription (zanax), sale of controlled substance, and one count of theft by taking.  She was then transported to Public Safety and then on to Blakely RYDC.

May 26

A Hubert Dollar Drive resident reported to Sgt Ray cox that his vehicle was burglarized.  He stated that during the previous night someone threw a sparkplug through the car window to gain entry.  Stolen from the Tahoe was a Valor ITS-702w in dash CD/DVD player.

May 26

A Copeland Street resident reported to Sgt Ray several items had been stolen from his storage shed.  Stolen items included 3 floor jacks, a Murray push mower, and a John Deere weed eater.

May 25

Eugene Smith Sr of Bartow Street reported to Sgt Marvin Knight that Eugene Smith Jr had taken his Income Tax check of over $400 and cashed it.

May 24

A Bower Hill Road resident reported found property to Deputy Vincent Edmond.  In the woods adjacent to his house, he found a push lawnmower, lawnmower hood, and a pair of training wheels.

May 21

At about 2 pm Officer Gary Hines responded to a domestic on Cemetery Street.  He found Eugene Smith and his girlfriend Toni Griffin had an altercation inside of the residence. Patricia Scott was arguing with Eugene, saying that he had beaten up her cousin Toni.  Toni refused to answer any questions.  Eugene and Toni started yelling and cussing at each other using vulgar language in front of a large crowd including kids.   When they refused to stop Eugene Smith and Patricia Scott were arrested for disorderly conduct.

May 20

Sgt Marvin Knight responded to Water and Collier Streets to a fight with weapons.  Sgt Knight saw Morris Fountain leaving the scene and another male standing with a towel wrapped around his left hand.  Fountain told him that Bengie Ziegler tried to come on to his lady friend in front of him and he told him to leave.  He stated Ziegler called him a bxxch.  When asked about being cut, Fountain stated Ziegler tried to stab him and he was trying to protect himself. 

Ziegler stated that he was at the apartment first but was approached by Fountain about his lady friend. Ziegler stated that he tried to leave by Fountain followed behind him making threats and pulled out a razor knife.   Fountain fled to his folks house and returned with a kitchen knife.  They started to fight until the police were called.

Both males suffered minor cuts on their hands but both refused to testify in court and wanted to be friends - while the police were there. Both Morris Fountain and Bengie Ziegler were banned from Housing Authority property.

May 18

At about 8 pm, an abandoned green Nissan Quest was found by Officer Jason Barlow in an empty lot at the intersection of College and Jester Streets.  The driver side back window had been taken out and laid down inside the van.  There was also an empty boat trailer attached to the van.

At about 10:45 pm, the owner of the van reported it had been stolen.  The owner stated they were camping on the river and had been parked the van in the Cheney Griffin parking area at about 3 pm.  Investigator Alton Brock responded to the recovered vehicle and processed it for fingerprints.

May 17

At about 3:30 am, Officer Kenneth Ellison responded to a domestic at 851 MLK Jr Drive.  The 23 year old female reported that her ex-boyfriend, Teddy Jones, had stolen her door key earlier in the day. 

She stated that Teddy Jones showed up at 3am and forced his way into the house.  She stated that when she tried to stop him, he jumped on her beating her in the head and arms.  Then he grabbed her by the hair and threw her over the stove.   Officer Ellison noted marks on her arms and face.  She reported that all of this took place while her small child was home.

Warrants are expected to be issued for Teddy Jones' arrest.

May 15

A car break-in that occurred on Cloverleaf Circle was reported to Deputy Michael Cox.  The complainant stated that someone entered his unlocked truck on the night of May 14.  Missing from his vehicle was about $45 in cash, a Ryobi drill and 2 newly filled prescriptions, Flexeril and Oxycontin.

May 6

Sheriff's Sgt David Ellis and Lt. Rick Ashley responded to a large dump site on Bubber Road just off of Ten Mile Still Road. They found several large black plastic bags containing household garbage.   Items belonging to Lisa Colwell of 969 John Sam Road were found in the trash. 

Ms Colwell told the deputies that she had given the garbage to a friend that lived in Colquitt but could not remember his name. She was issued a citation and ordered to clean up the dump site AND get landfill receipts showing proper disposal.

May 1

On March 18, a Miller Millermatic wire welder was reported stolen from a Dothan Road shop to Deputy Brett Trammell.  The blue welder was valued at about $500.  There was no sign of any forced entry into the shop.  The case turned over to Investigator Terry Phillips.

Then on May 1, the shop owner reported they had just followed an employee, Joe Seward, to Schnitzer Recycling where they suspected he sold a bucket of stolen copper.  They stated they had marked the copper with an ultra violent light paste that Investigator Phillips had provided.  Inv. Phillips and Inv. Gale Bowyer examined the copper at the recycler and found the ultra violent light showed the hidden identification.  The owners stated they never gave Joe Seward any copper and wanted him prosecuted.  About $500 worth of copper was reported stolen.

May 9

After several calls to 306 Godwin Street, Officer Chris Jowers responded about 3 am to a disturbance.  He found several people in the street fighting.  Captain Jerry Carter arrived a few minutes later and asked Crystal Griffin what was going on. Crystal advised that her brothers were fighting.  Captain Carter asked whose car was parked in the road and she replied her brother. 

When he told her it had to be moved, Crystal started cursing.  She began saying the mxxxxr fxxxxxg police was worried more about a mxxxxr fxxxxxg car in the road than what happened with the fight and started walking towards the car.  Capt. Carter and Officer Pat Bryant ordered her to stop and she refused.  She was caught her by her arm she tried to pull away and had to be physically handcuffed.  Griffin continued to curse and resist until she was finally placed in the patrol car.  Crystal Griffin, 23, of 306 Godwin Street was charged with obstruction and disorderly conduct.

May 7

Marvin Knight responded to Hardee's in reference to an internal theft.  He spoke with both the manager and asst. manager.  They stated that they have been investigating Crystal Griffin and Erica Jones since Febuary 2009 for the theft.  Erica Jones admitted to being involved in taking $448.34 in this time period.

Crystal Griffin was found to have taken at least $735.51.  All currency was taking out of registers including the drive-through register.  Jones also stated that she witnessed Griffin taking money from the register by punching in the clear codes that eliminate sales transactions. Griffin was not found for comments and Investigator James Dollar was notified.

May 7

A stabbing was reported to Officer Rusty Day at 721 Paulette Street.  The complainant stated that his brother in law and Nathaniel Baulkman had been arguing and he tried to BREAK it UP.  He stated that Baulkman cut him on the hand.  EMS arrived and treated the copmplainant.  He stated that he did not want to press charges, he just didn't want to see either of them again.

May 6

At about 8:30 pm Sgt Ray Cox saw a man pushing a wheelbarrow down Spring Creek Road.  In the wheelbarrow was a new window  air conditioner, still in the box.  The "driver" was a very intoxicated Stacy Glass, who is also deaf and mute.  In the box was the owner's name and address on Butler Ferry Road.

The officer transported Stacy and the A/C back to the Butler Ferry address.  The owner said the A/C was his but did not want to prosecute Stacy.  He was arrested, however, for public drunkenness.

May 5

A trailer theft from a Fowlstown Road residence was reported to Deputy Daryl Long.  The complainant stated that a newly built and never used  utility trailer was missing from the back of his property.  The trailer is 18 feet long with duel axles, metal, with 2x8 wood flooring, painted red with the floor painted black.   There was also two stand up ramps on the back, had wheel fenders and a jack attached to the hitch.  The trailer was valued at $2,500.

May 5

Deputy Humberto Dean responded to a Dothan road business regarding a theft.  The complainant stated that over the weekend about 900 lbs. of scrap metal, 7 aluminum radiators and 3 copper radiator cores had been stolen.

May 4

A burglary was reported to Cpl Aaron Brown at the apartments at 1732 Bethel Road.  The complainant stated that when she returned home from work, she found that someone had come through her kitchen window and stolen a number of items.  Her bedroom was ransacked and stolen were her watch, 3 cell phones, a stuffed teddy bear, VCR, earrings, DVD player and a digital camera.

May 4

At about 4:30 pm, a theft from a Knollwood Drive residence was reported to Officer Archie Mills.  The complainant stated his GPS device and digital camera were missing from his vehicle that was parked in his driveway.  He stated that his vehicle was unlocked.

May 2

At about 10 am, a burglary at an E Progress Street residence was reported to Officer John Mills.  The complainant stated she was missing 2 rifles, five 14K gold rings AND 21 Susan B Anthony $1 coins.

April 29

At about 10:30 pm, Cpl Brian Boyett responded to Nics in reference to shoplifting.  The clerk reported that Rakim Bouie had stolen 2 beers.  He reported that Rakim had first taken the 2 beers and put them in his pockets.  When Rakim walked to the front, the clerk confronted him about the beer bottles in his pockets. 

So Rakim went to the back corner of the store and put the beer bottles into his bookbag.  Then Rakim went to the cooler and took two more bottles out and put them back like those were the original beers he had taken.  Rakim then left the store. 

Since Rakim Bouie had just recently been released from jail, the next day Cpl Boyett was able to get a recent picture of Rakim.  The clerk identified him as the one who stole the beers.

April 28

At about 3 pm, Cpl Nigel Hurst responded to a downtown business regarding an attempted burglary.  The manager showed him where someone had tried to dig through the roof in three different spots. 

He reported that an apartment resident nearby had told him they had seen 2 males jump off the roof 2 nights earlier.  He stated they ran to a white van parked on Broad Street.  They were described as a tall, light skinned, black male and a shorter, dark skinned, black male.

April 25

At about 11 pm, Officer Chris Jowers responded to a loitering call at the Bainbridge Mall.  He asked a large group of male and females juveniles and adults to leave the parking lot.  They began to walk off and the officer proceeded to another group and asked them to leave.  He returned to his patrol car began to pull off when he saw the first group had returned.

Officer Jowers now turned on his blue lights and told them they had to leave the parking lot.  They were walking off and the officer pulled into the area to make sure they left.  As 17 year old Napolean Jarrod Sheffield walked by his car, the officer said "Hey bro yall got to find somewhere else to go, you have to leave."  Napolean replied with "I'm not your dam bro." and went on with "You need to mind your own fxxxxng business."  Napolean was arrested for disorderly conduct.
