A house fire reported early Monday evening was the result of an arson at 929 Helen Street.

20 second video of fire scene

The first Public Safety officers on scene reported the interior of the house on fire.

Outside, sat all the belongings of 52 year old Wayne Johnson.  Witnesses reported to Sgt David Cutchin that they observed Mr Johnson remove his belongs and go back into the house and start the fire.

Wayne Johnson then took off on foot south on Helen Street.  Public Safety searched for Mr Johnson through the night.  They located and arrested him at a convenience store in the very early hours of the morning.

Public Safety quickly extinguished the fire but damage to the house was severe.  Wayne Johnson was a tenant of the house owned by Reece Rollins.
