An 18 year old Camilla youth was beaten and stabbed multiple times in the leg and the arm on Saturday evening. At about 10:15 pm, a call came into 911 from Mitchell County Hospital reporting the incident. Hospital personnel reported that the victim had been attacked and stabbed while in Bainbridge.
On Sunday evening, the victim came into Public Safety and made his report to Sgt Ray Cox. He told the officer that on Friday evening he was driving through the boat basin and stopped near the playground. He told us that he was there for about 20 minutes when 6-10 males approached him from the wooded area.
He reported the group attacked him, punching him in the face and stabbing him several times in the right thigh and upper left arm. He stated he was able to fight his way to his vehicle and flee the scene. He said he did not know much about Bainbridge, or where the hospital is, so he drove himself back to Camilla to the hospital.
The 18 year old stated he had come to Bainbridge to see a movie and then decided against it. He said that it was dark and he could not see their faces very well nor could he identify their ages. He also said that nothing was taken in the attack.
The victim suffered 2 black eyes, 4 stab wounds to the right thigh and 7 stab wounds to the left bicep. All stab wounds appeared to be from a small bladed knife. Only 3 wounds, on his thigh, required stitches.
