A blaring smoke alarm woke the residents at 801 James Street about 4:30 am Saturday morning. They found their car, parked in the garage, blazing.

Bainbridge Public Safety responded to the difficult to get to fire, trying to work around the car in the garage.  With the engine still smoking, they could not get the car out of gear to push it from the garage.

Asst Fire Chief James Brock called for their rescue truck, hooked it up to the wench on the front and dragged it out.

Firefighters were then able to get the hood open to assure the fire was out.
