Juvenile Punks Slam Clerk's Head

A group of what is probably best termed as little punks, slammed a clerk's head into a brick wall on Tuesday night at the Winn Dixie Shopping Center.

A group of 10 to 12 youth, described as ranging in age from 8 to 14 years old, has been a continuous problem for employees at American Pie Pizza for years.  I understand they regularly shoplift at Winn Dixie and topple carts over in response to a manager asking them to move on.

Jessica, an employee, said they just want to act big and bad and nothing is being done about them.  "We're just screwed." she says.

19 year old Jessica tells about the situation

On Tuesday night, about 8:30 pm, the group was in their typical harassing ways.  After being run off from Winn Dixie they began the harassment in front of American Pie.  19 year old Jessica went out to ask them to leave and was joined by 20 year old Heather Smith.

Jessica and Heather decided to call 911.  The group headed around the corner of the building and Heather turned the corner to watch their direction of travel.  Heather wanted to be able to report to Public Safety where they had gone.

When Heather walked around the corner, one of the punks pushed her toward the wall and a 2nd one slammed her head against the brick wall.

Owner Jason Priest returned to the store and took Heather to the hospital.  He reported that she probably has a slight concussion and is receiving stitches for a cut.  Heather is also several months pregnant.

Mr Priest told us that this type of behavior from this particular group has been ongoing a long time.  He stated that he has tried talking to them and warning them that more action will be taken, but, he told us, it has not helped in any way.  Mr Priest said he felt it was time these youth were dealt with in a way to stop this.
