Justin A. Barron was sentenced on March 10, 2010, to a term of 30 years in prison by the Honorable W. Louis Sands, Judge of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.  Barron, age 21, of Albany, Georgia, pled guilty on December 16, 2009, to one count of aggravated sexual abuse of a child.

Barron had entered into a plea agreement in which he admitted that on February 19, 2009, on property located on the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia, he had sexually assaulted a 9 year old female orally.  He also admitted to sexually assaulting another 6 year old female on the base earlier that week.  A subsequent search of Barron’s computer revealed multiple images of child pornography.

Barron’s sentence must be served in its entirety, as there is no parole in the Federal prison system.  Upon completing his prison sentence, Barron will be on supervised release for the remainder of his life.  Mr. Peterman remarked that "the United States Attorney’s Office is dedicated to prosecuting all persons involved in the sexual abuse and exploitation of children to the fullest extent of the law."

Assistant United States Attorney K. Alan Dasher and Special Assistant United States Attorney Kevin M. Chenail prosecuted the case.  The case was investigated by agents with the United States Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
