Ha Ha, now I can get a new car, was pretty much the attitude of 23 year old Brittany Register after her car was shot up Monday evening.
Receiving several calls regarding shots fired is routinely handled a couple of times each week by 911. On Monday, however, the calls poured in reporting shots in the area surrounding the Hutto McIver Apartments.

At about 8:45 pm, a multitude of shots were reported and Public Safety officers responded to the area
Finally the scene of the shots was located on Walnut Street where a black Crown Vic had been shot several times. Across the street officers located approximately 13 shell casings.
Officer Alton Brock reported that a witness stated that the shooter had shot at the car a dozen times. Then, it was reported, the shooter walked towards the car and shot it several more times. But, of course, nobody saw anything.
The vehicle's back window was struck twice and there were several bullet holes in the trunk area of the car. It was reported that the car's owner, Brittany Register, had arrived home with a cousin and her cousin's baby only about 10 minutes earlier.
On Saturday afternoon a group of youth held a car wash on MLK Jr Drive to raise money. As the kids worked to raise needed funds for their team, several shots rang out only 2 blocks away and a car sped away.
During last Saturday evening's intensified patrols, BPS Investiagtor Mark Esquivel discovered a gun stuck in the waistband of Kevin Derlle Rambo, 26, of 220 Decatur Street. He was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon and carrying pistol without license.
The vast majority of the folks at Hutto McIver are good folks.
Unfortunately for them and the surrounding area, it's just another day in the neighborhood.
