David Sandlin loves going to church and singing in the choir. He also loves to steal from churches. He must also love prison.
After a number of church burglaries began shortly after David Sandlin was released from state prison, he was certainly in the eyes of investigators. Sandlin served about 4 1/2 years of a 10 year sentence for church burglaries and was on parole after his November, 2008 release.
After receiving concrete information regarding Sandlin's involvement, Decatur County Sheriff's Major Wendell Cofer, Investigator Brian Donalson and Seminole County Sheriff's Investigator Dale Swanner teamed up to interview him.
During the Tuesday evening interview at his Seminole County home, Sandlin made several incriminating statements. The 37 year old David Heath Sandlin was arrested and transported to Seminole County jail.
Major Cofer stated that he is presently charged with 2 Seminole burglaries along with 4 at Sandlin's own Fellowship Baptist Church (Fellowship burglary), Bethel Baptist and Southwest Baptist Church burglaries. Authorities are working to link him to the Mt Zion Church burglary and several church burglaries in Alabama.
Major Cofer stated they are attempting to recover as much of the stolen property as possible. Items stolen, valued at about $15,000, were primarily electronics including DVD players, electronic drums, guitars and big screen TV's.
David Heath Sandlin, 37, of 8305 Sealy Circle, Donalsonville GA was charged with multiple counts of burglary and making false statements and vandalism.
