The 2009 Rubber Ducky Dash for Cash is set to launch at River Town Days on May 9.

Duck season is officially open - rubber duck season, that is - and they are ready and waiting to be adopted for the 2009 Rubber Ducky Dash for Cash, which will be held at the River Town Days Festival.

On Saturday, May 9, at least 5000 ducks will be dumped into the Flint River where they will navigate through a race course to the finish line behind the Chamber of Commerce.  The first place duck will win a guaranteed $5000 cash, and other cash and prizes will be awarded to top placing ducks.

One duck in the race has a chance to win $1 million!  A pre-determined duck will be chosen as the million dollar duck.  If the million dollar duck comes in first or second in the race, the owner will win $1,000,000.

Ducks are $5.00 each and are available at numerous businesses around town, including Park Avenue Bank, Palmer Insurance, Family Bank, The Headquarters, Georgia Power, The SW Georgia Welcome Center and the Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce.

River Town Days Chairman Brian Rivers, Chamber President Evelyn Clay and Duck Race
Chairman Matt Palmer put together duck displays to be placed at local businesses.

In addition to the duck race, this year’s River Town Days will feature Atlanta Rhythm Section for their Friday Night Concert, with Evergreen as their opening band.

On Saturday, the festival will begin with a 5K race.  Later, there will be activities for kids of all ages with a rock climbing wall, mechanical bull, exhibits by the Birdsong Nature Center and Tallahassee Museum and much more!  The Great River Rummage will also be back, and homemade boats will hit the water in the River Raft Race.

Get ready for River Town Days and try your luck on a million dollar duck!  Get yours now before they’re all gone.  Be on the lookout for more information about the Rubber Ducky Dash for Cash and the River Town Days Festival.
