Josh Bell Appointed Judge by Council

Joshua C. Bell of Kirbo, Kendrick & Bell was appointed Municipal Court Judge by the City Council on Tuesday.

In his letter to the Council, he stated
I am currently the Municipal Court Judge for the City of Cairo and the Recorders Court Judge for the City of Whigham. I also serve as the assistant Magistrate Court Judge for Grady County. I have held the Municipal Court position since October 1, 2001, the Recorders Court position since August 1, 2001 and the assistant Magistrate position since 2004. I am certified by the Georgia Municipal Courts Training Council.

I believe that I can make a positive influence on the Municipal Court and I know that I would serve the City well.

   Approved Release of funds from
   SW Georgia Welcome Center reserve fund
Due to budget cuts by the State of Georgia in support of the Welcome Center, $30,000 was released from a reserve fund.  The State presently has $98,000/year budgeted which is about $30,000 less than operating expenses.  There is approximately $300,000 in this fund which is funds left from the original project.
