In July of 2011,
BPS Officer John Mills initiated a stop on a black Nissan Altima for no seat belt.  The vehicle turned into Landmark Manor Apartments and continued towards the back and finally stopped.  Eric Daniel Lee got out and took off running.

Eric Lee jumped a fence and headed towards Miluli Ave through the medical center parking lot but when he got to Wheat Street, Investigator Chris Jordan was there and grabbed him.

When asked why he ran he stated because his license was suspended.  Eric Daniel Lee, 24, was charged with obstruction of an officer, seat belt and suspended license.

On Sunday at about 8 pm,
BPS Officer Toby Miller initiated a stop on a black Nissan Altima for a brake light infraction.  On Monroe Street, the car stopped and Eric Lee stepped out and asked why he was stopped.  He was told a brake light and to get back in the car.

At that point Lee began walking to the front of his vehicle and took off running, obviously with no intention of being caught this time.  He quickly got into a wooded area and the officer lost sight of him.  A search of the area was unsuccessful.

Unfortunately for Lee, he was recognized from the chase in July.  A few minutes later, somehow the car was now being reported stolen.

They spoke with Rosetta Brannon, the car owner.  Officer Miller asked Rosetta who was driving her vehicle and she stated her sister loaned the vehicle to a Jermichael subject. I asked Rosetta if she knew who Eric Daniel Lee was and she stated,"Yes, He is my baby's daddy, but I ain't seen him and he ain't here!"

The officer advised Rosetta her vehicle was driven by Eric and that I recognized him as the driver.  She stated he was not driving the vehicle.  Officer Miller advised Rosetta her vehicle was towed by Rathel's and there was a hold placed on it as well. She asked what she needed to do to get it back and was told they would hold it until Eric was found.  She continue to say the vehicle was stolen.

Captain Robert Humphrey advised a stolen vehicle report would not be filed. He arrived on scene and spoke with Rosetta and asked if Eric was in the residence.  She stated no. He asked do you mind if we look, she stated yes.

Warrants for Obstruction of Police Officers, Brake Light Requirement, and Driving While License Suspended were obtained and on Wednesday evening at about 7:30 pm, officers arrested, handcuffed, and walked Eric Daniel Lee out of his job at the Home Depot.  Maybe next time he'll think twice.
