For the second year, the City of Bainbridge and Keep Decatur County Beautiful have joined together for "Bring One for the Chipper".

“Bring One for the Chipper” is Georgia’s annual Christmas tree recycling campaign. Since the program’s inception, over 4.5 million Christmas trees have been recycled across the state.

On January 3rd, residents were able to recycle their Christmas trees by taking them to the K-Mart Shopping Plaza. There city employees helped unload them and then the trees were loaded into the city's chipper. The mulch that was created will be used for area city landscape projects.

The City of Bainbridge and Keep Decatur County Beautiful are both dedicated to producing environmentally friendly, cost efficient solutions to waste disposal.  This program promotes the recycling of Christmas trees into usable mulch material and provides city residents an opportunity to discard of their trees.

As an added bonus, the first 50 trees brought in received a red cedar seedling from friends at Georgia Forestry.
