Friendship House of Jesus offers a multifaceted out-of-school-time program combining academic, physical, spiritual and arts education with practical job search training to give at-risk minority children from between the ages of four (4) to 21 the skills and knowledge to overcome the effects of poverty in their lives.
The Friendship House of Jesus, an out-of- school time program of Friends with Jesus, Inc., a non profit organization located in Bainbridge, Georgia, offers free services to children in low-income families to help reduce or eliminate the influence of crime and poverty in the lives of at-risk youth. Beyond serving a significant role by simply offering youth a safe haven, Friendship House offers opportunities for its participants to become successful contributing citizens of Decatur County. We are working hard to help build a positive future for our communities and our country through encouraging and educating underprivileged children and youth.
Friendship House strives for excellence in all areas of the organization structure. As a part of our vision for the Friendship House of Jesus we believe that setting goals for both our children and teenage participants is an important step in program development and success. By setting and striving for these goals we are able to examine and evaluate program and participant progress.
The Friendship House of Jesus is open during the school year Monday through Thursday when school is in session.
SIBIS 'Stop It Before It Starts'
This is a year round program that was introduced at the Friendship House in March of 2004. A grant was attained from the Department of Human Resources to structure a substance prevention and behavior modification program that targets 4-8 year olds.
This program is prepared to teach children how to: Express feeling appropriately, make and keep friends, accept differences, solve problems peacefully, cope with difficulties, gain self-esteem, use kind words, keep themselves safe and healthy and understand that tobacco, alcohol and other drugs are not for children.
