Drivers License & Auto Tag
By law, new residents are required to secure a Georgia license and auto tag within 30 days of moving to the state. Car tags may be purchased and ad valorem taxes paid at the Decatur County Tax Commissioner's office in the County Courthouse.

It serves as the headquarters for the tri-county Southwest Georgia Regional Library System. It also serves as a sub-regional library for the blind and physically handicapped for 11 southwest Georgia counties.

You may register to vote at the Decatur County Courthouse on the corner Water and West Streets. You must be 18, a resident of Georgia, and registered at least 30 days before an election in order to vote.

Voter registration is also available in conjunction with the purchase of a Georgia driver's license through the Georgia State Patrol.

Georgia law requires payment of property and income taxes.
Automobile ad valorem taxes are payed with the purchase of one's auto tag.
Property taxes are based on property owned on January 1 of each year.
Taxes are due December 20.
