Dance For Your Life

Mukerson's offers dance classes in:
Ballet
Pointe (Toe)
Lyrical (Ballet and Jazz)
Jazz
Tap
Clogging
Liturgical (Religious Dance)
and Hip Hop
The also have competitions teams for all ages in dance: Deep South Dancers.
This award winning team has competed in New York, Orlando and Las Vegas just to mention a few.
They have also won numerious regional, national and world titles.

Cheer

Cheerleading classes include :
Cheers Chants, Stunts, Cheeer Dance, Hand and Arm Motion Technique and Jumps and Tumbling.
Coach Dia Murkerson Cooper and the Deep South Cheerleading Team, have won awards at all levels of competition.
At Mukerson students learn more that dance, cheer and gymnastics.
They also build self-confidence, self motivation, dedicaton, healthy attitudes, work ehtic, time management, team work, leadership and self discipline.
Life skills that will help them build a successful future.

Gymnastics

Gymnastic classes include:
Tumbling and Floor Exercise
Balance Beam, Uneven Parallel Bar, Vaulting, Trampoline, Cheerleading and Power Tumbling
Classes include those for Pre-school, school, Mom and Tot, and a Gymnastic Class for adults that are former Gymnasts.
All classes consentrate on coordination, basic gym skills and strength development and enhance both physical and mental fitness.
The gymnastic competition team, Gymnast-A-Cats, have won regional, state and national titles and several state champion gymnasts over the past 40 years.

Outside the Classroom

Students at Murkerson's participate in many parades and festivals throughout the 11 month program.
It is not mandiatory but allows those participating the opportunity to showcase their skills.
Students travel to many cities and states to strutt there stuff.

Murkerson Alumni

Janet Mills, one of the contestants on Tyra Bank's Americas Next Top Model, spent over 10 years with the Murkerson Academy.
Be sure to watch as she fights for the title.
