by Teresa Adkins, 4-H Program Assistant

Decatur County 4-H'ers along with approximately 100 other youth from southwest Georgia recently attended the three day 4-H2O Camp.

Decatur County 4-H'ers Lailae Smith, Kinsey Ward, Chub Austinson, Zach Burdick, and Mason Gardner at Gin Creek in Colquitt County. While there they learned about invertebrates in the water, the role of water in Native American life, water pollution and much more.

The group traveled to UGA's Stripling Irrigation Research Park near Camilla where they were able to view center pivot irrigation and soil monitors. The campers also attended classes on solar powered wells, the water cycle, weather and other important water-based issues. The final day of 4-H2O camp was spent at Water World in Dothan, Alabama where 4-H'ers had the opportunity to experience some of the recreational benefits of water.
